Challenge #9 for the UKScrappers Summer Scrapbooking Challenge

Hello Everyone, I am excited to have a post today for a LO I created as part of the UKScrappers Summer Scrapbooking Challenge. Niki Rowland who is hosting the challenge invited me to play along and make a LO which contained an interactive element. You can find more details over at Niki's BLOG or at UKScrappers.

We are of course working on the theme of Summer for these Challenges, and to me that means bright colourful papers, and maybe the odd ice cream! I took the leap to use two papers I have been hoarding as they are two beautiful to use, these are from the Basic Grey Highline Collection and the Webster Pages Alison Kreft Collection.

I made a flap on my page and in turn created two LO's on one page. Both these photos are from the same day, but due to them being different orientations would not work easily on a page together.

I used the reverse of the flap to write one of the poems that always makes me think about the start of summer, and the lazy days you spend sitting around. The poem is by William H Davies

What is this life if, full of care,
We have no time to stand and stare.
No time to stand beneath the boughs
And stare as long as sheep or cows.
No time to see, when woods we pass,
Where squirrels hide their nuts in grass.
No time to see, in broad daylight,
Streams full of stars, like skies at night.
No time to turn at Beauty's glance,
And watch her feet, how they can dance.
No time to wait till her mouth can
Enrich that smile her eyes began.
A poor life this if, full of care,
We have no time to stand and stare

I really love how it came out, and how I managed to get several photos on the page, but not lose the clustered elements I love so much.  I have made process video to show you how I made this LO from start to finish.

Please go check out Niki's blog and UKScrappers for the other challenges that have been posted over the weekend (links above)

Thanks Nancy

Reviewing my Blog and the Scrapbooking Community

Hi All, after my last blog where I explained I was having issues with my blog, I think I now have solved the problem, and this lead me to review the content of my blog. As I mentioned in the previous post, their was a lot of early content on my blog that covered, what seems now, and whole other life. I have made the decision to archive these post, I want them to be around so I can look back on my early style of scrapbooking, but maybe not have the content so public. I have the same issues with the physical scrapbooks from this year period too, I have kept these, as they are part of my story, but they are not kept in easy access. I have provided a link where my 2009-2011 blog post will be archived, this is on the last post of this blog. I have also been thinking of getting my butt in gear and dedicating some time each week for scheduling some blog post, I am find the medium of video easy to record and share my ideas, but it is much more difficult to refer back to. I am not sure how many of my reader used Two Peas In A Bucket to buy products or to take part in the classes and community over their, but with the news of it closing being announced last week, I have seen a lot of people reflecting on how they engage with the scrapbooking community. I did not participate greatly on the forums, but I used the galleries and the classes as a great source of inspiration. I suppose that Pintrest has taken over this slightly, but I will miss the classes I took part in. Luckily I was tech savvy enough to be able to save the content and the videos before they are deleted. I am looking forward to taking a couple of classes over at Big Picture Classes in the coming months, I really hope they pick up some of the teacher from Two Peas. I am lucky to have both a local community that I engage in, but also one online and one on YouTube, or course their will always be cross overs in these communities. But I have realised that it is important to become an active member whatever community it is that you engage in. Of course their is always going to be clashes and negativity, as with most things in life, but I feel very lucky to be in the position I am in. Saying all that I know I am not going to set myself un-realistic aims, but I hope to do a monthly review post each month of the LO's that I have created, and also then share some other parts of my life on here too. So I want to thank you all for sticking around with my sporadic blogging and I want to build on the community that I already have established and share more of this wonderful hobby with you lovely people. Thanks for Looking X

I have been a bad blogger...

Hey everyone, I am afraid I have been a bad blogger, and not been over here to play much. I have had issues with my ipad and also been very much continuing my YouTube affair. I have found a really great community of crafters over their and finding so much inspiration.

As I am writing this I am at the grand total of 99 layout this year, I also am on a spending freeze and trying to use up my old stash and breathe new life in to it. I wanted to share some of my favourite LO's I have made recently with you.

Also here is one of my recent YouTube video, if you want to here me ramble on.

Thanks for stopping by and I promise not to leave it so long next time.

A Few Recent LOs

Well I have recovered from my 30 LO challenge and have cleared the decks of the scraps I had lying about and have started on my mission to use up my paper stash. I have brought a few bits of the new releases and some other bits of pieces. But I did good and brought no more 12x12 paper, none of that till another 20 LOs have been completed.

So here are some recent LOs, these are all to go in my 2012 album, which has now spread to 3 albums.

This is a Halloween LO so I managed to use up some of the themed bits I had in my stash. Next I scrapped some photos from Christmas 2012 again managing to use up some themed bits from my stash.

I am really enjoying digging through my stash and finding out and using bits from 2-3 years ago. I am also loving sharing these on YouTube. I have met a great community of crafters over their and it is encouraging me even more to scrap. My YouTube name is Kittyscrapper if you want to check them out.

Thanks for looking

28-30/30 LO Challenge

Well I did it I completed my 30 LO challenge!! It took me 42 days and several pieces of neglected paper and I scrapped 49 photos. It also pushed me to become more of an active member of the YouTube crafting world too.

So here are my finial LOs.

Thanks for looking and following me on this challenge. Now I am on a mission to kill a few of the kits I have got in the last few months. I also need to start my 2014 project life album.

24-27/30 LO challenge

Back with an update on my LO challenge. I have now finished my 30 LO's but thought I would split the photos over two pages as to not bombard you. I am loving how productive I feel getting these done.

The first LO is using a photo I stole from Janina's blog, who organises the Bramford crop. I used fabric and glassine bags and wood veneers, it was a bit different from what I normally do.

This next one is using a variety of scraps off my desk. I love the combination of navy and coral

This next LO again is using up my scraps, and bits that have been in my stash a long time.

Lastly is a LO using all the strips that I had lying on my desk and also some cork letters I had had in my stash for a long time.

I now am in the process of doing the journaling and getting in to albums. I have really made a dent in my photos to scrap.

Thanks for looking.

19-23/30 LO challenge update

As I mentioned in my previous post I am now reaching the end of my challenge. Here are the LO that I created at the Bramford Crop this month. I was very good and brought minimal supplies along with me, I think it was because I had time to plan this month.

These photos are all from 2012 and I am slowly but surely making a dent on my to scrap pile.

I hope my next post will be the remaining LO from this challenge, although no paper can be brought till I reach 50 LO. I will however be getting my monthly scraptastic kit, but I have not included this in my challenge, it's the additional spending that was becoming an issue.

Thanks for looking.

LO 11 & 12 /30

My scrapping mission is still going along steadily now nearly half way on my LO challenge. Here are my latest.

This first LO was using a photo from 2012 and is of the flamingoes that live outside my caravan, they looked great covered in snow, so of course that is a scrap worthy moment!

This LO is of the first photo I took of me and my boyfriend in America, as many of you know who have been following my blog for a while. It was the first of about 3000 photos.

Also I am really happy to now have over 100 subscribers on my YouTube channel. You crafter are a friendly bunch, thanks for your support.

I must admit I have started a bit of a wish list of products I want, but I have not gone mad. I have my £20 Sarahs cards voucher I won on the December Sketch challenge so I am sure when a few of the new CHA bits are in I will make a few purchases, but it am going to try not to buy and paper... I did say try!!

Thanks for looking.

LO 9&10/30

Just wanted to drop by and update you on my 30 layout challenge. I am now a 3rd of the way through and am starting to embrace my stash. I definately feel I have got caught up in all the new collections out and been hoarding.

My 9th LO is a photo of my room at my parents and will be going in my 2012 project life. I used one of the frames from websters pages that I have been coverting since I brought them.

My 10th LO is one where I challenged myself to not use a doilie. I really love how this turned out. This will be going in my USA album.

I have completed process videos for these LO and they are on my YouTube channel.

LO 6/30 Whisky Love

Back with my 6th LO for this challenge, again scrapping old photos from 2012. This one is from the Famous Grouse whiskey distillery in Scotland.

I have been coverting these gold thickers since last year and decided they needed to be used, rather than just looked at!!

I used lots of bits I had out on my desk and in my embellishment bag. I am trying to make a dent in some of subscription kit bits and mixing them up with each tiger seems to be helping. I also used a tag I had stitched a couple of weeks ago, the colour thread went perfect.

I have made a process video for this LO if anyone is interested, or hello if you are visiting from YouTube. My first process video has reached 100 views so thanks for all you watched and commented.

Thanks for looking/watching and I am hoping to hit 10 LO by the weekend.
