Studio Calico Sunday Sketch

As I mentioned in my past blog post after seeing all my lovely Instagram friends getting the Studio Calico kits, I decided to take the plunge and mine arrived on Friday.  I was checking out there blog for some inspiration to use the bits I was a bit perplex on how to use and saw they had a Sunday sketch challenge.  I thought I would take part as I seem to be on a roll with sketches at the moment.

Here is the sketch from the BLOG:

Due to my love of Instagram on my Iphone, I have lots of Square photos I could use on this LO.  I went with a 5x5” square photo I took after my latest hair cut/colour.  I then got to work on the LO, taking the colour form the photos.  I used pieces from the kit, SC Memoir Collection and SC Abroad collection and some scraps from my basket, the alphas are October Afternoon and Pink Paislee.  I also found some Vintage buttons that I got from my mums a while back and my favourite Cosmo Cricket Tiny Type, I think I have 3 of this set in my stash!!Here is the finial LO, I am still to work out where to put the journaling.

Sarah’s Cards Blog Challenge & using my Scraps

I have brought a lot of stash from Sarah’s card lately, but I had not looked at there blog before this weekend.  I saw that they have a monthly Challenge, using a sketch and as I had a huge pile of scrap building up in my scraps basket, I decided to put the two things together and see what I could come up with.

This was the sketch:

Now I tried and tried to get a circle on my LO, I cut several out of different scraps, but could get nothing to work.  I think I like my graphic lines too much, I kept the placement of the other main elements and used a landscape picture which was larger than the 4x6 used on the sketch.  I then decided this was another LO to get inky on, I am using just watered down distress inks, Walnut Stain  on this one.

I used a photo of the man at Woodbridge on one of our recent walks, I decided to take the colours from the photo.  I have also used my favourite set of Amy Tangerine stamps, the chevron stamps is being a bit over used by me at the moment!!

I even sneaked in a bit of the washi tape that was in this month Studio Calico kit that arrived on Friday.  I must admit that some of the bits will be a challenge to use, where other bits I can not wait to use.

I am going to keep checking out the blog and although a circle did not make it in to my LO this time, I have the 3 I cut up to use somewhere!!

Shimelle Online Crop Weekend

This weekend just gone the lovely Shimelle had a online crop, with lots of challenges and also the launch of a new online class.  I have had this dreaded bug that is going around so was not up to doing any scrapping at the weekend, but I did make a note of the challenges to work through.

I have had enough energy this evening to complete a LO I started earlier in the week  and work on a new one too.  I am also trying to get my divider pages for February and March completed.

This LO was influenced by a previous Glitter Girl challenge (see twopeasinabucket.com) to make embellishments from paper,no pre-brought supplies.  I am a lover of rosettes, and I have a couple of dies, but these were made just scoring by hand.  I have found a few local ladies who get together and craft on a Monday evening, so I went along with minimal supplies , and hence the handmade embellishments.  I also used my Amy Tangerine stamps, I am still loving these, all supplies were American Crafts although different collections.

This is my new favourite LO, I loved this photo which I took last month and was looking forward to finding the right way to scrap it, and I am really happy with the results.

This next LO was inspired by a crop challenge to use the same photo twice.  I went for a very simple LO but kept up the layering which I am loving now.  The ink splodges were inspired but the print on the new Amy Tangerine Sketchbook collection papers.  I also am trying to use more of my growing stash of washi tape on LO’s.

I am hoping I will feel better by this weekend and can scrap and get things sorted for my holiday.  I am off to Barcelona with the Boyfriend for a week on the 28th April.  I need to keep up as no doubt there will be many many photos taken on that trip. I am also hoping my Studio Calico kit will arrive soon, I have joined there kit club so hopefully by the time I am back from my holiday and ready to scrap it will be here and the next one will be on its way.

TOFF Challenge

Over at The Octopode Challenge blog this week it is an anything goes challenge.  I always look at the blog, but I don’t always have a suitable stamp/digi image.  This week I looked at my digi stamps and went for the cat.

I used the Tim Holz die to cut the tag then Paperartsy stamps and Distress Inks/ white mist for the background.  I used my Promarkers to colour the image in.  I finished off the tag with a few pins and a bit of twine and washi tape.

Go check it out over on the blog to see the DT inspiration.

Thanks for looking.

Getting Inky!

I have been experimenting lately on a couple of LO’s with ink and mists, I have been seen lots of people getting inky and wanted to see if it would work with my style.  I have also been using more stamps on my LO too.  I am happy with the result, and have managed to not knock over water/ink on my LO’s!!

aproil lo 042I still have some journaling to add to this piece.

This was made using all scraps from my scraps basket, and the new American Craft Amy Tangerine stamp set.

I have been reading on a few forums about scrap-lifting from others, I must admit I do look at all the galleries online, but I do find it hard to ‘copy’ others, I always end up going off on a tangent anyway.  Please feel free to look at my Pinterest page where I  collect together a lot of the LO’s I like and draw inspiration from.
